WELCOME TO SIREN & PROPER

A lot of people ask where the name Siren & Proper came from.

Truth be told, the first time the words were uttered, it was a spur-of -the-moment idea similar to yin and yang that didn’t yet have anything tangible to represent. It was a feeling. An almost random thought between friends and soon-to-be business partners, that over time has blossomed into so much more than what it started as years ago. Siren & Proper is about identifying with the duality of beauty within every person. The daring and bold, represented by Siren, a fox, the chic and sophisticated, represented by Proper, a bunny.

Siren & Proper’s first location was established in 2014 as Grand Rapids, Michigan’s first boutique Lash Lounge and Brow Bar by friends and business partners, Christina Lynn Perez and Kaite Lyn Christoffersen (affectionately known as “KL”). In the years leading up to the partnership, Christina assisted under KL at Cheeky Strut, KL’s first salon venture, before eventually renting a room to provide lash services and makeup. As the demand for lash extensions grew, the market space for a salon that specialized in only lashes and brows became evident. With KL’s creativity and Christina’s talent and knowledge of the lash industry, the idea for a lash lounge & brow bar was born, but what to name it? Something that represented both who KL and Christina were as individuals, and what they became as a team was needed. Something that represented the beauty of yin and yang, and how two obviously contrasting forces are actually very complimentary. Finally, something that represented the contrast, or the duality, within every person and how when combined, resulted in a single, unique, and beautiful individual.
